Two of them, coming up through the turf at the edge of town. One is already out to the waist and looking around with the mild confusion of somebody who has misplaced a decade. The other is still mostly soil.

They sit flat to the ground, which is what makes them useful. Set them in the open grass between two buildings and the empty part of your village stops being empty and starts being a place where something is about to happen.

Its job in your village: residents, and the cheapest way to add a story. Good in the gap where you have not decided what goes yet.
